Shades of Green Leadership Award

3 Rivers Wet Weather is proud to be a winner of the inaugural Shades of Green Leadership Awards sponsored by the Green Building Alliance. 3RWW won the award in the Public Works category for helping to lead the way in greening Pittsburgh’s built environment.

The Shades of Green Leadership Award is designed to highlight the efforts of a distinctive person or team within the built environment who:

  • Demonstrates a visionary impact on the greening of Greater Pittsburgh through work on buildings, developments, infrastructure or other built factors of our environment
  • Possesses proven leadership skills that exhibit creativity and innovative results
  • Diligently partners with others in the region to facilitate positive change
  • Consistently influences others to improve the environment

A couple of 3 Rivers Wet Weather’s most notable green projects include:

Green Roof Demonstration Projects. 3 Rivers Wet Weather recently awarded a total of $386,000 in grants for four local green roof projects.

Rain Barrel Project. To demonstrate how rain barrels can be integrated into a comprehensive program to reduce extraneous storm water flow in the municipal sewer system, 3RWW teamed up with the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association to conduct a pilot rain barrel project.
