Community Involved: McCandless Township
Sanitary Authority (MTSA)
Project Goal: To compare the cost and effectiveness
of trenchless pipe bursting technology with conventional open trench rehabilitation
and document the reduction in environmental impact.
Project Summary: The project involves replacing sewer
lines with pipe bursting and open trench technology and constructing manholes
and service reconnects. Pipe bursting will replace and upsize a leaky sewer,
while minimizing the impact on wetlands, a stream corridor and existing housing
